The star has handed over the complete sum of his £25k honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to save the United Kingdom's independent live music spots.
The star was awarded the prize on 16 October as his latest record the album was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.
He has decided to donate the funds to the MVT, in recognition of the essential function small stages had in his initial steps.
"As an artist couldn't be pursuing this success if it weren't for all the performances I performed around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," said the artist. "These spaces are renowned, but they are facing challenges."
Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – roughly 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.
Over the past year, well-known musicians like the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by including a small levy to their ticket prices, which goes to help independent venues.
Sam Fender also joined in, raising over £100k on his recent tour to help 38 grassroots venues across Britain.
These funds supported spaces that were facing possible closure due to challenges arising from water damage, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and sound issues.
Some locations obtained monetary aid in modernizing facilities and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted musicians and concertgoers.
"The idea that revenue from performances in large arenas helps the smaller venues, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just sensible," the star has said.
He is not the first artist to contribute his award funds to charitable organizations.
Back when they won the trophy in the year 1996 for their record Different Class, frontman Jarvis Cocker announced that the group would donate their winnings to the charity War Child.
In 2002, artist Ms Dynamite divided her prize across multiple charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.
"Additionally, I donated a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they required new equipment," Ms Dynamite told a publication.
Two years ago, the band contributed their funds to the local youth club that developed their band, alongside other local music groups.
And winners that year M People donated their winnings to a charity for MS after a friend was diagnosed the illness.
"The victory was quite enough," stated artist Small. "The money was the extra but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the main prize. So our winning impacted somebody else's life."
Recently, the MVT shared it had saved a couple of local spots in south-east England, by transferring them to local control.
The first in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol were bought under the community ownership initiative, which is funded by the arts council and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the venues.
